Data update

myfuture is taking a new approach to generate broader results when researching occupations and/or further study or training options. By working together with leading Australian and international academic researchers in the areas of career development, vocational education and labour market analysis, we have integrated large Government data sets to assist users with making more informed decisions about their future career pathways.

The method for matching qualifications to jobs will link courses to multiple occupations, related by common skill requirements. The data matching will be informed by current labour market outcomes, rather than intended occupations.

Users also now have the ability when searching courses to apply a state and territory filter to provide more relevant and personalised results to individual users.

Other benefits include:

  • Course and occupation results sourced from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), Higher Education and Vocational Education and Training (VET) data collections.
  • Occupation data mapped to courses to offer broader ‘career clusters’.
  • Broadened word match search functionality for courses and occupations.
  • Assimilation of current and emerging labour market outcomes.
